2013-2018 --> 5 YEARS PLEASURE

A taste for projects and new tech

At ESILV I was able to develop my skills in a wide range of projects. I learned team working, I learned to share my knowledge and to be creative. During the first 3 years (common core), I studied a variety of subjects: mechanics, electronics, IT, mechatronics, but above all a lot of mathematics.I had great teachers who stimulated my curiosity and aroused my passion for dev. In fact, the perfect blend of technique and creativity, the resolution of complex problems and the fact of getting tangible feedback in real life all give me pleasure. So, for the last two years, I've chosen to specialize in IT, and I have to say I've been spoiled for choice when it comes to projects. Creating my first websites, mobile applications and video games. It was only during my first professional experience that I discovered JavaScript web frameworks. The web is evolving fast and we're discovering new technologies (frameworks, libs, languages, AI, etc.) every day: it's very exciting!

Projects

Technicals

Exciting and diverse technical projects, with showroom days at the end to present our work. Among them:

  • Competition to design and build the best trebuchet.
  • Study, design, and development of a perpetual motion prototype.
  • Design and creation of a sonar-equipped white cane prototype for visually impaired users, based on ultrasonic sensors.
  • Design and implementation of a video game (card game developed in Java - JavaFX).
  • Development of websites and an Android mobile application.

Soft skills

With the aim of improving our interpersonal skills at the jobplace, we took several courses on interpersonal skills, communication, leadership and public speaking.
We also tried out the MBTI personality test to learn how to work with different personalities and get the best out of each one.

Cross-disciplinary

As the university hub is home to several schools, including EMLV and IIM as well as ESILV, we had a cross-disciplinary week each semester. A week during which we worked on a project/theme in teams with students from the other two schools. We worked on themes such as “Designing the factory of the future” or “The development of urban agriculture”.
These project weeks enabled us to develop ideas and concepts on important subjects. Above all, it enabled us to work in multi-disciplinary teams.
